Real Heritage Pubs of Wales

Real Heritage Pubs of Wales – Pub Interiors of Special Historic Interest is a CAMRA book that is based on their Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors in Wales. Published in June 2010, the book was launched at the 2010 Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival by Michael Slaughter who edited the book and took all of the photographs.
The book is A5 in size and contains 122 pages . 100 pubs are featured in the book and it is illustrated with over 200 quality photographs. Each entry contains at least on photograph, a history of the pub, a description of the interior, opening times, public transport information and whether the pub serves food.
As well as the pub reviews the book contains a selection of features such as pub games, the oldest pubs in Wales, Welsh breweries and why the pubs in Wales were always closed on Sundays.

The quality of the photographs in the book is excellent and as the content of Travels with Beer is very similar to this book it was great being able to talk to Michael at the launch. Whereas all of my shots are handheld, Michael uses a tripod and flashguns for all of his shots. This means that the quality of his shots are far superior than mine.
The one downside to the book is that it’s too small. I wish the book was bigger so that you can really appreciate the stunning interiors of some of the pubs. Still, at £6.99 it’s well worth the money.
