The Brandy Cask, Pershore

The Pub
Opened in June 1995, the brewpub is located on the side of the river Avon at Pershore Lock and is Pershore’s only truly independent Free House. The interior has a traditional feel to it and there’s a small central bar with two small rooms either side. Accessed from one of the side rooms is the Ale Room Brasserie which offers a variety of meals. It appeared to be busy when I visited on a Sunday lunchtime.
To the rear of the pub is the brewery. I didn’t get to see this but I believe you are welcome to view it. Outside is a very large beer garden which stretches all the way down to the River Avon.
The Beer
The on-site brewpub produces 3 different real ales all year round – Brandysnapper (4%), Whistling Joe (3.6%) and John Baker’s Original (4.8%). They also produce ‘Ale Mary’ on occasions. The 3.6% Whistling Joe was a reasonable £2.60 a pint.
As well as their own beers they serve 2 guest ales. When I visited in July, 2010 the two guests were from Newmans in Caerphilly and the Northumberland Brewery. They also sold Cheddar Valley cider.
