Southampton Arms, London

The Interior
Once a failing Courage pub with uninteresting beers and equally uninteresting punters, the Southampton Arms was transformed in 2009 to a real ale and cider lovers paradise. The interior was stripped back to the bare boards and 18 handpumps were installed to dispense quality ales and ciders.
Consisting of just one long room, the pub can get busy which will mean sharing with a table with some friendly locals. To the rear of the pub you’ll find a small beer garden along with the outdoor gents toilets. Entertainment is straightforward and you won’t find any TVs or fruit machines. Instead, there’s a well used piano and a pile of vinyl and a turntable behind the bar.
Food and Drink
The Southampton Arms is proud to support beers from local/regional breweries including the nearby Camden Town Brewery, Brodie’s and Twickenham Ales as well as Dark Star, Summer Wine Brewery, St Peter’s, Thornbridge and Waveney Brewing Company. You can always find around a dozen or so beers (usually 10 cask and 2 keg) plus a good selection of ciders (around 6-8). Prices are very reasonable with all casks ales costing £2.95 a pint (March, 2011).
Food consists of well priced old-fashioned pub snacks such as pork pies, sausage rolls and joints of meat that are cut up for baps.
Visiting the Pub
There’s a bus stop directly outside the pub that is served by the 241 and C2 buses. A short walk away is either the Kentish Town underground station or the Gospel Oak overground station.
