The Ten Bells, London

Brief History and Interior
According to an article on Wikipedia, there has been a pub on the site since 1752 and the present pub dates from a rebuild in the Victorian era.
Much of the interior has been removed but the impressive tiling on the walls remain. According to the landlord, the tiling may date from 1852. Much of the tiling features blue patterns but near the entrance on the Commercial Street side is an impressive panel of painted tiles entitled Spitalfields in Ye Olden Time. It dates from the late 19th century and was produced by the firm of Wm B Simpson.
The Beer
The large island bar in the centre of the pub serves three cask ales along with the usual lagers and ciders and Leffe Blonde. The three ales available when I visited in May, 2011 were Bombardier and two beers from the Trumans Brewery – Summer Runner and Three Thread. The Trumans Three Thread was priced around £3.60 which is normal for the area.
Visiting the Pub
The 10 Bells is located just across the road from Spitalfields market and can get very busy. When the pub gets particularly busy people spill out onto the pavement on the Commercial Street. There aren’t any seats outside so it’s standing room only.
