J'Ville Tavern, Jacksonville, OR

The J’Ville Tavern is a 1930s historic saloon located in heart of stunning gold rush town of Jacksonville in southern Oregon.

Location and Interior

The J’Ville Tavern is located in the historic southern Oregon town of Jacksonville, a few miles west of Medford. The town, named after the Jackson Creek that runs through it, was an early gold rush town and was a US National Historic Landmark in 1966, covering over 100 buildings.

The J’Ville has been serving beer since 1935 and it appears as though not much has changed. Looking like a traditional saloon both inside and outside, the walls are adorned with animal heads and money is tacked to the ceiling (apparently they are given to charity).

The tavern is popular with both locals and tourists that drop in for a quick drink or are curious to see what the interior looks like.

The Beer

J’Ville offers a good selection of beer from Oregon breweries such as Widmer, Caldera, Southern Oregon Brewing Co., Walkabout and Ninkasi. Beer is well priced and is served in frosted mugs.
