The Cock, London

Location, Interior and Exterior
The Cock is located on the corner of Great Castle Street and Great Portland Street, just a short walk from the tourist hotspot of Oxford Circus. As such, you may well find many tourists in the pub although on my visit on a Sunday afternoon there appeared to be more Londoners than tourists there.
Outside this grand Victorian-style pub are a number of truly giant lamps, perhaps the biggest I’ve seen on any pub. As with any traditional Victorian pub, the interior matches the exterior. A long spacious interior features a dark ceiling, lots of wood panelling and a tiled floor. The bar is split into three areas by two large wooden partitions.
Built in 1904 by he architects Bird and Walters, the majority of the interior is not original in particular the all-over floor tiling and screens which were added by Samuel Smith’s during a refit.
The Beer
As with all Samuel Smith’s pubs you can expect to find the usually kegged lager, Original Brewery Bitter on cask along with the good selection of bottles. Prices match the norm that you pay in a Samuel Smith pub so it’s probably the cheapest pub closest to Oxford Circus.
