Green Dragon Bistro & Brewpub, Portland, OR

Brief History
The Green Dragon is named after a famous public house in Boston and is located in inner southeast Portland. The pub is currently on its third owner – Rogue Ales of Newport, OR. The brewery bought the pub back in November 2008 and fans of the pub showed concern that they would convert it into another Rogue Taproom and lose a lot of its character.
Being fans of the pub, Rogue didn’t change the look and didn’t flood it with their beer. In fact, there’s a microbrewery on-site producing beer from another brewery. And with 60+ beers on offer, it was an improvement on the 20+ beers that were on offer prior to the purchase.
The Interior and Exterior
The pub is housed in what appears to be a large warehouse which is roomy and offers plenty of seating. There are two bars, one to the right and one to the rear. Also at the rear is a microbrewery operated by the Buckman Brewery which moved into the pub in 2009 and had an official grand opening in August 2010. Originally a 1bbl brewery, it expanded in 2011 to 15bbl.
Outside is a large beer garden featuring an odd army green Quonset hut housing a mini-arcade with pinball machines.
The Beer
The Green Dragon features 60+ taps that serve an eclectic mix of craft beer from across the country. Expect to find beer from breweries all over Oregon such as Flat Tail, Caldera, Natian, from California Stone, Bison and Sierra Nevada and a couple from the on-site Buckman Brewery.
The beer is split between a front and rear bar which helps even the load of people ordering drinks. There is also a bottled beer fridge and it appears that they may on occasion offer beer from a mobile bar in the garden.
