Britain’s Best Pubs 2012
Posted on 30. May, 2012 by Robert Gale in Books

The book is split into the main counties of England along with Scotland and Wales. Each English county features from 1 pub to over a dozen and there are 7 Scottish and a dozen Welsh pubs. In total there are over 260 different pubs that have all been visited and inspected by the AA.
The emphasis is clearly on more rural pubs where the food is of a higher quality and there is accommodation. Town pubs still feature but some areas that certainly have a lot of decent pubs such as Manchester and London only have 1 and 2 pubs listed respectively.
Each listing features one or more high quality photographs along with all the essential information such as how to find the pub, when it opens, whether food is served and if it offers accommodation, the number of stars it has been awarded.
The accompanying description is detailed and discusses the history of the pub along with the type of food that you can expect. The pubs featured are predominantly free houses and unfortunately very little is mentioned about what beers you can find at each pub.
