The Harp, London

The Harp is a narrow pub a short walk away from Trafalgar Square, London. Despite its name, the pub has no Irish connection and until 1995 was called the Welsh Harp.

Unless you arrive early the pub gets very busy and on warmer days drinkers spill out from the small downstairs bar onto the street. Although I’ve never been upstairs, there is additional seating available. The extremely narrow Brydges Place (just 15 inches wide at its narrowest point) behind the pub is also used by drinkers (I’ve used the alley floor on a few visits in the past).

The Harp, London

The Harp serves an excellent selection of beer (8 on tap when I visited last week), usually from local London breweries. On tap were 4 Dark Star beers, 2 Sambrook’s and 1 Twickenham.

As the pub is so small they haven’t got a kitchen and can’t serve meals. However, will cook you an excellent large sausage and fried onions behind the bar for a reasonable £2.70.

Whilst I would recommend visiting the pub early so that you can get a seat, it’s certainly worth a visit even when it’s packed.
