The Cottage

The Cardiff Cottage is a Victorian pub located on St Mary Street, one of the main thoroghfares in Cardiff.

Brief History and Interior

The Cardiff Cottage dates back to 1863 and, depending on which source you read, was either renamed from The Cottage to the Cardiff Cottage, or vice versa. It’s a narrow city centre pub operated by Brains and offers the usual Brains beers as well as traditional pub grub such as pies.

The bar is located on the left side as you walk in and mirrors cover the right wall to help make the pub look bigger than it is. Seating consists of stool through the central part of the pub and there are tables at the front and rear.

The pub was the first in Cardiff to become non-smoking and pre-empted the ban by two years. Due to its location the pub is busy on Fridays and Saturday nights and during match days.
