Sebastopol Beer Festival, Sebastopol
Posted on 20. Jun, 2010 by Robert Gale in Beer Festivals

The Sebastopol Beer Festival is held every June at the Sebastopol Social Club in south Wales. The venue is an award-winning social club just south of Pontypool. The club is spacious and welcoming. Both the staff and and regulars are happy to chat.
The festival usually has between 4 and 6 ales available and it seems that the beer festival is put on just for the locals. It’s not very well advertised and I tend to forget about it each year. The only people that seem to attend are CAMRA members and locals. It’s a pity as it’s a great festival.

This is the third time that I’ve attended and the quality of ales on offer was excellent as always. Breweries featured were from south Wales and the rest of the UK. I was very pleased to see the newly released Thai-Bo from Otley. The beer was made by beer author Melissa Cole and was unveiled at the Great Welsh Beer and Cider Festival.
Here is the full list of beers that were available:-
- Otley O8
- Otley Thai-Bo
- Newmans Summerberry Steam
- Wanstum 1381
- Red Squirrel RSX
- Northumberland Zig-Zag To The Onion Bag
- Sawbridgeworth Dragons Blood
- Tipton Toll End P.A.
- Poachers Black Crow Stout
- Cotleigh Albatross
- Red Squirrel Colorado
- Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger
- Cottage Silver Arrow
- Rhmney Amber
- Wentworth Spring Bank
- Leydon IPA
The festival was spread over two floors with the 3.5-4.5% beers located at the two upstairs bars and the stronger beers were located in the basement skittle alley. Also in the skittle alley were a selection of ciders and perries.
The beer was really well priced ranging from £2.10 – £2.70 a pint. Most were around £2.10 – £2.30. A barbecue in the large beer garden with burgers on offer for just £1.
