Golden Eagle, London

The Golden Eagle is a ‘proper pub’ located on Marylebone Lane, a small street just off the busier Marylebone High Street.

The Interior

The Golden Eagle is as traditional as they come or to quote Time Out London, it’s a ‘comfortable-as-old-slippers little boozer’. Located off the beaten track you far more likely to mingle with locals than tourists.

The very small single room boozer retains all the characteristics of pubs from days gone by and is one of the few places where they still roll out the piano for a good ol’ sing song (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).

Seating is very limited inside the pub with only a few tables available. Stools are provided outside the pub should you want to sit outside on a dry day.

The Beer

There are usually 2 or 3 ales available and St Austell’s Tribute appears to be a regular. The beer is very well kept and when I visited earlier in 2010, the Tribute I had was one of the best I’d tasted.
