Panorama Bar, Keflavik Airport

Panorama Bar is located in the main terminal of Keflavik Airport where flights to European destinations depart. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the international terminal.

The Interior

The Panorama Bar has a very modern feel to it and is corner location provides some great views of the runways and beyond. The entire bar is spotless which matches the rest of the airport. At the entrance to the bar is a circular bar that is mainly stocked with spirits along with a single draught beer.

I visited during a short layover on the way from London to Seattle and upon arrival at the bar at around 3pm and was the only person there. Many people appeared to prefer to drink the bottled beer available at the nearby café (which costs the same as the Panorama Bar).

The Beer

The beer in the bar is very limited. There is just a single tap dispensing Viking, a “premium golden Icelandic lager beer brewed with the European pilsen method”. According to the Viking website, the 5.6% is the most popular draught beer in pubs and restaurants in Iceland.

Viking was also available in cans along with bottles of Carlsberg. 500ml of Viking cost approximately £4. Also available in the nearby café was Thule which is a 5% lager brewed by the same company that brews Viking.
