The Interior
Located in the north-west corner of St David’s 2 in the centre of Cardiff, Cosy Club occupies the large first floor space above Hugo Boss. Entrance is via a large double-height lobby decorated in reclaimed multi-coloured boards and doors, paintings and stuffed animal heads. Friendly members of staff are on hand to greet patrons as they climb into the large open plan first floor space.
The space is subtly split into a bar area with comfy sofas and a much larger dining area although customers are not required to dine to use this area. Large windows provide plenty of opportunity to relax and watch the hustle and bustle of the Hayes.
Like all Cosy Clubs, the interior has is very funky and packed full of character. The floors are constructed from wood reclaimed from old squash courts, the giant painting in one corner was made especially for the pub in Lithuania and the lamp shades were imported, at great expense and through a strict UK customs, from the United States.
The Beer
Two beers are always available on hand pump, a house beer called Toga Man which is rebadged Seven from the Bristol Beer Factory and a rotating beer from the Tiny Rebel Brewing Co. Interestingly, Tiny Rebel was selected due to their quirky branding which fits in well with Cosy Club’s philosophy. Of course, they also make excellent beer.
Also available is Dark Side stout from Bath Ales on keg and Bath Ales Gem in bottles.
